Scott Disick’s breakup with his girlfriend of three years, Sofia Richie, was in part because of the feelings he still has for Kourtney Kardashian, his ex-girlfriend and the mother of his three children, Us Weekly reports. A source told the outlet that his relationship with Kardashian and their history hindered his romance with Richie.
“Scott is always going to be in love with Kourtney, and that’s something Sofia has had to face since even before she got serious with him,” a source told the outlet. “It’s been an ongoing thing. It just became more apparent that his family was more of a priority than she was, and his family would be his main priority over anything and anyone.”
Disick’s struggles in quarantine also contributed to the split. The 37-year-old reality star entered rehab for issues relating to substance abuse, then checked out when photos leaked of him in treatment. “”Sofia noticed that he wasn’t doing well and gave him an ultimatum, and in the end it seemed like Scott was more focused on Kourtney and his kids than her,” the source said.
Kardashian, by the way, isn’t exactly keen on reconciling. She “lets him in—but at arm’s length,” Us’s source said. “Kourtney has always been hesitant about getting back together with Scott or letting him in in a romantic sense,” the source continued. “She has given him so many chances over the years after he has said that he is going to prove himself to her, and he seemingly still hasn’t in certain aspects.”
Disick discussed his struggle with not knowing how to act around Kardashian while dating Richie on Keeping Up With the Kardashians. “Sometimes you have so many inside jokes or inside things with somebody you’ve known for so long, even if you’re not romantically with them, you don’t really know how to act,” he said. “It is definitely a really hard and awkward situation, and I just feel bad. At the end, I want the people I love in my life to be happy.”
