Docksteps, a brand that’s part of the Italian specialized footwear group Zeis Excelsa, has launched a new sustainable and ethical initiative aimed at the end consumer.
Since November 2020, a few selected Docksteps monobrand stores have given a €15 voucher for buying new products to each client who brings an old pair of shoes to be recycled. The secondhand shoes will be reused and transformed into floors for playground areas and athletic tracks to be donated to public administrations afterwards.
The initiative, organized in collaboration with Eso Sport, a Benefit Corporation focused on protecting the environment through recycling activities, started in two pilot stores in Lecce and Mantua and will be extended to most of the brand’s Italian network of stores by end of 2021. At present Docksteps is disitributed through 12 monobrand and 250 multibrand stores in Italy and 40 multibrand stores in the rest of the world.

“Docksteps’ philosophy is always more focused on caring for the environment, and this call-to-action is a concrete example. This way, not only we encourage old shoe recycling by granting a voucher for new purchasing, but also give worth to ethical and circular-economy practices that can be beneficial for the community,” explained Massimiliano Rossi, general manager, Docksteps.
