Coach House Reveal – Front Roe by Louise Roe

2 min read

The Coach House reveal is one of the last areas left to show you. I saved this one until the end as I knew I wanted it to be its own little guesthouse and so it’s a mix of antiques, things from LA and items left over from the main house. A real blend of old and new; inherited and bought has given the Coach House an identity of its own and we did it all on a shoestring so it didn’t cost us a fortune either. See the pictures of the Coach House reveal below and let me know your thoughts!

The curtains are a beautiful vintage Laura Ashley print and were inherited from the previous owners. I love them and so I used them as a springboard for a colour scheme. The walls are Ball Green No. 75 by Farrow & Ball which was left over from painting the master bathroom in our main house. On the walls themselves is a mix of artwork: the botanical prints are from a book and I had them framed in LA, the sketches are part of a larger vintage set I found in New York (the rest are in Honor’s nursery), and the print in the bedroom was found in an antiques shop for £10!

The furniture in the Coach House is fairly minimal- there’s a big Campaign style chest that used to be in our bedroom in LA and I love seeing it here in a new environment. The lamps, including the beautiful coral one are also from LA (a lot of furniture recycling went on here – we had the lamps rewired for the UK) and the bedside table was found in an antique shop in Dorking, Surrey, during a weekend stroll. The sofa is a two seater in pine green by Snug Sofa and is great for a compact guesthouse as it has storage underneath.

The Coach House has its own kitchenette and bathroom so it’s perfect for extended family stays or for friends visiting from LA; I love to think of the days when it really did house a coach and horses, before it was converted of course!

xx,
