Oh to be wandering the sunny streets without a care in the world! I shot this just before lockdown for My Wardrobe HQ and I can’t wait to be back in London seeing friends and exploring. I showed you all my favourite jewellery pieces recently and how I store them, and these pics got me thinking about my all time fave earrings. Whilst at home (and running madly behind Honor) I’ve been loving little hoops, dainty drop earrings and smaller studs but as our hopes for summer parties and BBQs slowly creep up, I’ve been getting excited to bring out my big earrings. So here are your summer earrings, sorted.
If I were to choose one print that makes up the majority of my accessories collection, it would have to be tortoiseshell. Simple, goes-with-everything and chic, from the tortoiseshell Ray Bans my Mum wore in the 80s to these Cult Gaia beauties I love. This print is the queen of adaptability in the fashion world lifting dark tones, pulling neutrals together and finishing off mixed patterns, in any season. Some chic tortoiseshell hoops provide the perfect complement to a brightly coloured summer dress; subtle studs are perfect for when we’re finally back in office, whereas a jeans and t-shirt day can also be smartened up just a little with some chunky statement earrings.
A really fun set of tortoiseshell earrings might also be a great way to inspire you to be a little more courageous with your fashion decisions so take your accessories as an opportunity to go a bit wild with your choices. A bold pair of earrings always makes me feel just that little bit more put together so don’t be afraid to shake things up- it might inspire a whole lot of sartorial confidence. If you’re a fan of a statement earring but tortoiseshell isn’t quite your thing, look to Rebecca de Ravenel for rattan or wood pieces, like these beautiful jacaranda clip ons.
Now that you’ve your summer earrings sorted, it’s time to do a spot of online shopping!
