Unfeigned was founded in 2018 in Madrid by the Gomez siblings with the aim of creating a sustainable contemporary brand and developing their idea of a “uniform for every day.” Since the very beginning they have worked, traveled and researched together to develop perfect patterns and collections with a very smart and cool palette. Rafa takes care of design and product development and María is art director. Their first collection was launched in July 2019 at Pitti Uomo and Seek Berlin for s/s 2020 thereby making its public debut just as the Covid-19 pandemic erupted.
Casualwear by Unfeigned
Since its creation, Unfeigned has strived to be sustainable by providing a certification that involves every part of the process, from the yarn to its packaging. All of the collection’s items are GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) and GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certified. A garment, in order to be GOTS-certified with a grade 1 organic textile label, has to contain 95-100% organic cotton. To be certified as a textile containing organic fibers, it has to be made up of a minimum of 70% organic cotton.
The GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certification is an international full product standard that sets requirements for third-party certification of recycled content, chain of custody, social environmental practices and chemical restrictions. A garment is GRS certified if it is made with a minimum of 60% recycled material.
Unfeigned’s manufacturers are located in Portugal and Spain only, guaranteeing proximity, a more direct management and closer follow-up of the whole manufacturing process. The brand’s core raw material is organic cotton for most of its woven pieces, though it also offers technical pieces made with recycled polyester fabrics, both made in Portugal.
