This is Nike’s latest sneaker innovation

1 min read

US sports giant Nike presents its new take on slip-on sneakers for those who can’t put their shoes on without assistance – or cannot be bothered: the Nike Go FlyEase.

Behind the hands-free shoe’s motion is a bi-stable hinge that enables the shoe to be secure in fully open and fully closed states, Nike explains.

This duality includes the Nike GO FlyEase tensioner, whose flexibility is meant to allow an action many might take for granted (kicking-off a shoe) and wants to reimagine this movement as basis for accessible design. Putting the sneaker on involves just stepping into the shoe so that it will snap into place; taking them off is done by stepping on the heel.

The Nike Go FlyEase is available 15 February only by invite.

The FlyEase technology isn’t new though; it has been already employed in numerous Nike footwear styles across basketball, running and sportswear. In the Nike Go FlyEase, this technology translates to serving a broader range of active lifestyles possible and can be used not only by athletes but also for everyone’s real life.

The Nike Go FlyEase is available 15 February initially via invite for select Nike Members, with broader consumer availability planned for later this year. The retail price will be approximately €120.
