It’s time to get creative with your fall hair. Thanks to Badgley Mischka, upside down headbands are now a thing, Alice + Olivia’s pearl accents have kicked Coachella’s glitter roots to the curb, and Christopher John Rogers turned the volume all the way up with sharp, structured ‘fros. Ahead, check out the best hair looks we spotted at the fall/winter 2020 shows and how to recreate them at home.

Structured Fros

From the sharp, bold suiting reminiscent of grandma’s finest church get-ups to the exaggerated silhouettes of the ballroom, Christopher John Rogers brought the drama. But it was especially hard to peel our eyes off the show’s choppy yet structural, voluminous afros and old Hollywood curls, thanks to lead stylist and Amika Global Artistic Director, Naeemah LaFond.

Pearl-ple Rain

Move over, Coachella glitter roots and hair barrettes—pearls are this year’s new hair accessory. At Alice + Olivia, Justine Marjan created soft waves on the models and sprinkled pearls throughout their hair for extra oomph.

Harley Quinn Ombre

Ponytails aren’t all that exciting, but Justine Marjan’s Harley Quinn-inspired looks at Christian Siriano gave the classic style a fresh (and lively) update. Each ponytail was adorned with blue and pink hair—a nod to colors at the end of Quinn’s ponytails.

Wet and Wavy

Wet, fresh-out-the-shower waves were the style of choice at Proenza Schouler, a look inspired by the 90s, according to Redken Global Creative Director Guido Palau. While flirty and effortless, Palau wanted to create a boxy, masculine shape and leave the comb marks at the front of the head. To finish, a few strands of hair were swept across the forehead of a messy look.

Warrior Twists

In keeping with the theme of Jonathan Simkhai’s refined, modern, and chic collection, TRESemmé stylist Odile Gilbert pulled the models’ hair back to create a “strong and tough but still elegant” low-ponytail. Once the ponytail was secured, the hairstylist parted the remaining hair in two, twisted each side down, and secured it with a rubber band.
