Princess Eugenie just shared her own Instagram tribute to mark her big sister Princess Beatrice’s surprise wedding this past Friday. On Monday morning, she published a post on her official royal Instagram, congratulating Beatrice on her big day and new marriage.
“Couldn’t Bea happier (get it) 🐝…” Eugenie started the post. “What a complete joy and privilege to watch you, my beautiful big sister, walk down the aisle to dear Edo. I am so proud of you and I’m so excited to support you in the next chapter of your life. We are going to have so much fun together. Happy wedding day to you both xxxx.”
Eugenie also shared a couple of portraits from the wedding in her post.
The British royal family confirmed on Friday that Beatrice had quietly wed. It was a small ceremony, in large part due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The Palace said in its statement, “the private wedding ceremony of Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi took place at 11 AM on Friday 17th July at The Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge, Windsor. The small ceremony was attended by the Queen [Elizabeth II], the Duke of Edinburgh [Prince Philip] and close family. The wedding took place in accordance with all relevant Government Guidelines.”
A source told People that the Queen was a major consideration in Beatrice’s approach to wedding planning. The date chosen “was all about the Queen’s schedule. The Queen was the guest of honor, and it was very important that she was there.”
While there was no mandate that guests had to be tested for COVID-19, caution was taken. “It was planned for some time, and everyone had to be extremely cautious leading up to the big day because the Queen was in attendance,” that source explained. “They had to make sure everyone who was attending was in perfect health.”
