Messe Frankfurt, the organizer of the Neonyt trade fair, has changed its mind.
Just a few months ago it said that a conscious decision had been made against a digital edition of Neonyt 2020 this summer. But now one is happening.
This week, the fair organizers announced that in the week of July 13-17, 2020, a number of different Web talks on the topics of business, lifestyle and knowledge will take place. During the virtual “Neonyt on Air” event fashion and digital experts will discuss said topics in talks and live interviews. In addition, the initiators of the Frankfurt Fashion Week–Messe Frankfurt and the Premium Group–will give an outlook on summer 2021.
The new virtual format will run on the trade fair’s social media channels, in addition to the new digital ordering options in collaboration with the B2B online marketplaces The Brand Show Circular and Joor as preferred partners. No registration is required for participation in Neonyt on Air. The complete program will be available on the Instagram channel @neonyt.berlin and will soon be available on the website.
On Tuesday the motto “Data is in the Air” revolves around the topic of virtual fashion, digital sampling and 3D bodyscanning. The Brand Show, Browzwear und Yoonatech will discuss their visions for the production, processing and distribution of fashion in a panel.
Wednesday will be dedicated to the influencer community of Neonyt. An Instagram takeover with Thekla Wilkening from Stay Awhile will focus on the Neonyt format Prepeek. Why fashion is an expression of individuality and what significance personal and corporate values have in this is the topic of Magdalena Schaffrin’s talk on Wednesday afternoon. She will discuss the fashion industry’s recent moves towards more diversity.
The uncertainties caused by Corona are confronting the creative and fashion industry with the task of finding new ways of working. On Thursday Max Gilgenmann will talk to Hessnatur, Lisa Jaspers from Folkdays and a representative from the Fashion Council Germany about the global problem of supply chain interruptions and order cancellations in production facilities.
On Friday morning Peter Feldmann, lord mayor of the City of Frankfurt am Main, Detlef Braun, member of the board of management of Messe Frankfurt, Olaf Schmidt, vice president textiles & textile technologies of Messe Frankfurt, Thimo Schwenzfeier, Neonyt’s show director, and Anita Tillmann, managing director of Premium Group, explain in video statements, what potential Frankfurt Fashion Week has for the Rhine-Main metropolis, the fashion industry in general and for the two initiators Messe Frankfurt and Premium Group–but also explicitly for Neonyt. Tillmann and Schmidt will also answer further questions about Frankfurt Fashion Week in an interview afterward.
