Canadian outdoor brand Arc’teryx has appointed Katie Becker as the brand’s first vice president creative. In her new role she “will lead the development of a global, holistic strategy to support and guide the rapid growth of the Canadian company”. Her responsibilities now include both product management priorities and strategic planning of global design issues. Becker is part of the company’s senior management team and reports directly to Arc’teryx President Jon Hoerauf.
“Arc’teryx offers customers mature, high quality product performance and lives in a vibrant community. Katie has extensive experience in strategic design. This will enable her to build on our strong brand legacy while continuing to develop our brand identity,” said Jon Hoerauf, CEO of Arc’teryx. “She has a deep understanding of the sports and outdoor industry and will drive our vision of design and product globally”, he adds.
Prior to that, Becker worked for Adidas for over 12 years. During her time as senior global design director at Adidas, she developed and expanded the sportswear company’s design strategy for footwear, apparel, technical and lifestyle products, conceived and launched new collections and programs and set the creative direction for key international markets. Prior to joining Adidas, Becker held various design positions at Merrell, Helly Hansen and O’Neill, where she was responsible for technical design and innovation, market research, sourcing and product management.
