Furthermore, The North Face aims to achieve the environmental targets adopted by parent company VF Corporation in 2017: That means reducing Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 55 percent by 2030 and Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 30 percent by 2030. The focus is on farm-to-retail materials, procurement and logistics. The main materials used – polyester, nylon, cotton and leather – account for about 93 percent of The North Face’s material consumption and 97 percent of greenhouse gas emissions by weight, although these numbers may change slightly from year to year.
In addition, The North Face Renewed recommerce platform, through which worn The North Face apparel can be recycled, repaired and resold, continues to expand. The Renewed platform, which is already established on the U.S. market, will now launch in Europe as a pilot program in Germany and will gradually be rolled out to other markets.
