Fabric Days in Munich are canceled

2 min read

Due to the ongoing measures to fight the Corona pandemic, the original date of the fabrics trade show had already been moved from January 26-28, 2021, to March 2-4. But the challenging circumstances and planning uncertainty have now forced Munich Fabric Start to pull the plug and cancel Fabric Days altogether.

The organizers wanted to repeat what was proven in September 2020 with the first edition of Fabric Days when a smaller sales-focused business format under highest hygiene and safety precautions was possible. But since in recent weeks, the situation in Germany as well as in the European region has not changed fundamentally and accordingly the German government has provisionally extended the current lockdown until January 31, 2021 and tightened it even further, a reliable planning of another event seems too difficult.

With only seven weeks left until Fabric Days at the beginning of March and no necessary turnaround in Europe in sight, Munich Fabric Start currently has to assume that there will be no political basis for approving and holding trade fairs in Germany until then. Added to this are the ongoing travel restrictions.

“This decision is one of our most difficult since the beginning of the pandemic, if not since we started organizing trade shows for the fashion and textile industry. Until the very end, we believed that we would be able to repeat our success from September by joining forces – especially thanks to the numerous exhibitor registrations and the trust and great support of the industry. Unfortunately, the situation is different in the winter months and makes an event impossible,” says Sebastian Klinder, Managing Director, Munich Fabric Start.

In the coming weeks, Munich Fabric Start wants to focus on providing long-time exhibitors and visitors with updated information, and on examining options for the next trade show date.
